KING PARROT To Support Superjoint On The It Takes Guts Tour Next Month; Dead Set Out Now On Housecore Records

The Australian grind hooligans in KING PARROT will bring their devious sounds and black humor to US stages next month supporting reactivated metal icons, Superjoint. Presented by Superjoint frontman Philip H. Anselmo’s own Housecore Records, the It Takes Guts Summer takeover will kick off on July 10th in Oklahoma City and raze twelve US metropolises, coming to a close on July 25th in Shreveport, Louisiana. Additional support will be provided by punk metal/noise rock labelmates, Child Bite, as well as grindcore/death miscreants (and labelmates), Fulgora on select dates.

Comments vocalist Matt “Youngy” Young of the latest KING PARROT US adventure, “We just wrapped up a massive homeland tour supporting our new record, Dead Set. We sold out venues across Australia and our album came in at number 21 on the national album chart. The highest ever debut for an Australian extreme metal album! We now have our sights set firmly on the US for our upcoming It Takes Guts Tour with our brothers from Superjoint and Child Bite. We are 100% refueled and ready to showcase new material live for the first time in the US. We got lots more tour plans in the works after this, but for now we got a solid few weeks coming up and we are really amped. Get your copy of our new record from thehousecorestore.com and we’ll see you on the road.”

Emerging from the Australian metal scene, KING PARROT draws influence from the thrash, grind, hardcore and punk scenes of the ’80s and ’90s and has pillaged its way to international recognition since their inception in 2010. The band will be touring in support of their latest full-length, Dead Set, recently released in North America via Housecore Records. Captured by Philip H. Anselmo and Michael Thompson with Steve Berrigan at the infamous Nodferatu’s Lair (Down, Eyehategod, Superjoint Ritual et al) in Louisiana, KING PARROT‘s Dead Set crushes the weak with ten grind-laden, punk-infused odes of defiant audio savagery bedecked in the dark, cynical humor for which the band has become notorious. A true leap forward from their Bite Your Head Off debut, Dead Setparades a distinct maturity from a band who’s committed to the rigors of international touring, slaying audiences through Asia, North America, Europe and Australia on a now-regular basis.

KING PARROT are a fine body of fellows, and it is our absolute pleasure to be working with these assaulting-yet-charming devils. Their best years are ahead of them!” – Philip H. Anselmo

“Overall, Dead Set is reminiscent of the groovier moments of Pig Destroyer, which, is no small amount of praise… The band manages to bring plenty of fury, but it’s the slower, more textured sequences that really make the album a standout. Sophomore efforts are often pushed as ‘harder, heavier, faster,’ but here, KING PARROT decides not to just be angry all over again, and instead gives listeners the evil they crave.” — MetalSucks

KING PARROT don’t care that you’re snappy dresser, or smart as a whip, or have enough money to buy pussy for an eternity. They’re a grindcore band—actually more than that—with an all-fun, no ######## disposition…on their second album… KING PARROT are yet again the proverbial ##### they set out to be. They’re just heavier this time.” — Decibel

“There’s more of a chaotic live feel to this album in tracks like ‘Punisher,’ ‘Anthem Of The Advanced Sinner’ and ‘Like A Rat’ where you can almost feel the flying spit and beer of a raging punk show oozing from the speakers.” – Metal Injection

“It’s a straight-forward blast of thundering, off-the-rails punk-and-grind-tinged death metal that is flat-out rife with attitude and nasty, winding riffs. Lifted by Youngy’s demented and improved vocal range,KING PARROT‘s latest is as mean, ugly, and crazed as you would have hoped for. ” – The Metal Observer

“…unstoppably relentless from the get-go…a ferocious album to listen to with the punk sneer of ‘Like A Rat’ sounding like… Cancer Bats bastardizing the ’80s Bay Area thrash scene. Elsewhere Dead Set is just rammed full of stomping, grinding, raging thrash. None of that retro-thrash ####; this is just heads down, ####-you thrashing insanity.” – PureGrainAudio

“…ten tracks, all balls to the wall flat out, riffy, groovy, fuzzy, aggressive, KING PARROT deliciousness.” – Metal Obsession

“If you don’t headbang to this, you need to join a country band!” – Skulls ‘N’ Bones

“…a very fun and engaging record, which seeks to seamlessly flow between hardcore, grindcore and deathgrind, whilst never seeming to underwhelm the listener’s expectations.” – Sputnik Music
