Gallery Review: FLETCHER at House Of Blues, Orlando

There are so many things that make a concert great: the artist’s performance, the setlist, the atmosphere, the crowd interaction, the lighting and stage setup, just to name a few. One additional element that always puts a show near the top of my list is when the artist is so obviously loving every second on stage and truly living in the moment with the fans. The first night of FLETCHER’s Girl Of My Dreams Tour had all of the above, and the sold out crowd in Orlando matched the energy that Cari Fletcher (the name behind the moniker) showed up ready to deliver.

Just a few weeks after her debut album of the same name reached #4 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart and #15 on the Billboard 200, it was no surprise that FLETCHER was all smiles throughout the night. After years of hard work and time spent moving on from a difficult break-up while learning to love herself, the album’s success marks a pivotal point in her career with the promise of even bigger things to come. More importantly, it reflects a place of personal healing, which is something she hopes to share with listeners through her brutally honest and often controversial lyrics.

The stage was built to look like a Psychic Reading Shop decorated with various neon lights and a second stage on top of the shop’s roof. FLETCHER and her band made good use of both spaces throughout the show, making it feel much more massive than a 1,500 capacity space. The set consisted of a good balance of tracks from the new album, fan favorites from her previous EPs “The S(ex) Tapes” and “you ruined new york city for me,” and a cover of Britney Spears’ “If U Seek Amy.”  With fantastic musicians behind her, a captivating stage presence, and impeccable vocal ability, I wouldn’t be surprised to see her next tour hitting much larger venues.

All in all, it was a fabulous night of music, as well as a celebration of diversity, love, and tolerance. One of the many rainbow flags in the crowd even ended up on stage at one point. Click here to see her Instagram post about the acceptance she feels from her fan community, lovingly referred to as her “fletch fam.” I’d attempt to describe what it felt like to be in such an accepting environment of people passionate about music and pride, but I think it makes more of an impact coming from the artist herself.

The Girl Of My Dreams Tour continues through mid-November. Grab tickets to your local show here!
