NEW SINGLE: The Lonely Wild’s “Holidays”

“An anthemic sound – equal parts western, southern and something not quite defined by
geographic adjectives.” – American SongwriterThis band is raw and reaching a sound that many have tried but have

yet to execute so well.” – Best New Bands

Consequence of Sound has premiered The Lonely Wild’s new single “Holidays” which will be released digitally today on iTunesConsequence of Sound said, “they [The Lonely Wild] have released their own protest against the superficial with their latest single… Frontman Andrew Carroll and vocalist Jessi Williams hauntingly harmonize over top forlorn piano lines and guitar flourishes.” The band released a statement about the single saying, “Every year we’re bombarded with baby boomer-era Christmas carols and jingles that paint a superficial portrait of what the holidays are for a lot of people.” They add, “When we wrote ‘Holidays’, we wanted to show the other side – the emotional fatigue, the pressure to be with estranged family, and the anxiety that mounts at the end of the year when we start to ask ourselves: Were you successful? What do you have to show for yourself? We tried to reflect this musically by creating a slow-motion, dream-like vibe to the first half of the song. There’s a sense of both tension and emotional detachment in the delivery of lines like, ‘Holidays are coming to rip your heart open. Just don’t freak out. Just don’t let me down.'” The Lonely Wild have aLos Angeles release show coming up on December 13 at The Bootleg. Tickets for the show are available here.

The Lonely Wild’s new single follows up a year-long tour in support of the band’s critically-acclaimed debut full-length album, The Sun As It Comes. The Los Angeles-based quintet is currently in San Francisco recording their sophomore album, Chasing White Light, their most ambitious album to date. Working with producer John Vanderslice at his famed Tiny Telephonestudios in San Francisco, the band will be recording and mixing strictly to analog tape in an effort to capture the magic of a bygone era of rock ‘n’ roll that inspires their sound. Fans can head over to The Lonely Wild’s Pledge Music Page to help support the band’s forthcoming album, get exclusive songs, pictures, videos and more!

In 2011 The Lonely Wild emerged as a band of multi-instrumentalists whose writing and arranging talents were only surpassed by their ability to work seamlessly as a singular, dynamic voice. Pulling from 1960’s western cinema, Laurel Canyon vocal stylings, and the adventurous spirit of The British Invasion, The Lonely Wild pushed these sounds to new uncharted territories and achieved the contradictory feat of reminding listeners of something they had never heard.

Their 2012 debut EP, Dead End, laid the foundation for their 2013 full-length follow-up, The Sun As It Comes, which propelled them to the national stage touring with musicians such as John Doe, Damien Rice, The Elected, Laura Marling, Lord Huron and earned support from tastemaker radio stations across the country, including KCRW, The Current, Nashville’s WRLT and KDHX in St. Louis.

Their most recent release and latest single, “Holidays,” is a psychedelic, shoe-gaze dreamscape that culminates in a Crazy Horse-esque freak-out stomp. Carroll and Williams croon in tandem, empathizing with the fatigue so many of us feel during the holiday season. They sing, “Holidays are coming to rip your heart open. Just don’t freak out. Just don’t let me down.” The song arrives just in time to hold fans over through the holiday season until The Lonely Wild’s next big release in early 2015.
