With past/present alumni of Black Mountain, Saviours and Night Horse and more, theOBLITERATIONS collective unfurled the filth of their debut LP, Poison Everything, released via Southern Lord in October of last year, amidst major waves of stateside touring preceding and following the album’s construction and release. Recorded with producer Chris Owens (Lords, Coliseum, Young Widows) at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606, mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge, High On Fire, Black Breath) at God City Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Tragedy, Integrity, Sleep) at Audiosiege, Poison Everything delivers nearly a half-hour of antagonistic hardcore punk, taking hints from the works of The Stooges, MC5, Laughing Hyenas, Black Flag and Poison Idea and creating their own volatile, modern brew out of it all. Noisey offered, Noisey, offering, “As soon as that infamous d-beat kicks in, you’re transported back to classics like Never Again and Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing. Then the vocals start up and you’re assault with a vicious modern take on the classic ’80s sound.” Pitchfork issued in part, “on their debut album Poison Everything, they’ve managed the commendable feat of refurbishing (or rather, defurbishing) the mud-caked frameworks of Crass and Nausea,” and AllMusic claims, “there’s something viscerally exciting about the album, which blends equal parts teeth-grinding speed with unfiltered aggression, resulting in an intoxicating blend of old-school, circle pit-inducing punk fury.” OBLITERATIONS was also featured in Rolling Stone Magazine’s October installment of 10 Artists You Need To know right HERE.
