ABOUT OXYMORRONS:

Are they an alternative group, a hip-hop group or a pop band?  Maybe, the Oxymorrons are all of these and yet none of these and that’s the way they want to keep it. The skate boarding, video game playing, comic reading, sci fi debating musical super friends consisting of the brothers K.I. and Dee, and friends Mr. Hernandez and Matty Mayz are creating the soundtrack for the lives of people who aren’t afraid to embrace their inner “GEEK”.

Oxymorrons’ inspiring music, positive messages, and dedication to the fans cultivated their Geek Life movement forming; an eclectic, supportive family of underdogs determined to prevail despite all odds. Since forming back in 2009, the group continued gaining momentum by playing various shows around New York City, finally catching their first big break opening for Lupe Fiasco. These early local successes lead to collaborating with Jay-z’s Artful Dodger brand on bi-costal events hosted by Sway Calloway of MTV andDJ Skee to release their mixtape, STFU and Listen. Propelled by the mixtapes reception, the guys quickly found their infectious energy and creativity in demand as they were tapped to tour with Gym Class Heroes, performed on stage at Afro-Punk Fest and asked to co-write and feature on Wynter Gordon’sdance hit “TKO.” Ahead of the release of their upcoming project, tentatively titled Complex but Basic, the Oxymorrons were recruited by Red Bull Sound Select to be apart of their Sounds of the City program that highlights emerging artists from various cities.

The Oxymorrons’ high energy performances, pop culture infused lyrics, and mesmerizing music has earned them a legion of fans leading to collaborations with the likes of Redbull, Claw Co., Marvel, and SaturdayNight Live. They have played some of the biggest festivals including Firefly, SXSW, CMJ and more. They have shared the stage with chart toping acts like Ludacris, Juicy J, Common, Gym Class Heroes, Janelle Monae, Ke$ha, YelaWolf, Bad Rabbits, Neon Hitch, Salt N Pepa and more.

As they prepare for the release of ‘Complex but Basic’ in the fall, the Oxymorrons continue to carve out their own genre in the music diaspora. They have watched and waited as for years Geeks were seen as outcasts and now are in chic, but the Oxymorrons knew they were the shit they were just waiting for everyone else to catch up.
