May 6, 2014 – Hitting a record of 8.2 Million views on YouTube and nearly 115k YouTube Subscribers to date, the pop/rock trio King The Kid have done it again with a brand new music video! In their latest stint, King The Kid partnered with MegaByteFilms to shoot a music video for new single “So Long (My Lover).” Taking weeks of practice and coordination the clan successfully pulled off a one shot only video. In the exclusive premiere on PopCrush.com, Jose Mostajo, Ricky Ficarelli and David Michael Frank fight off bad guys and follow clues in order to rescue their leading lady, who has been kidnapped. Catch the action packed video here.
The track coming just a few months after their hit “Last Train” video and song release was a part of their Winter studio time with friend and producer Adam Sliger. King The Kid explain the writing process of “So Long (My Lover),”Going back into the studio and writing new songs this past Winter, we knew we wanted to make music that pushed the envelop on what we had done previously while staying true to ourselves. This track is very cool because it has a vintage-y rock video that we loved from the moment the first riff was written.”
The release comes just a week before the trio hit the road for their second tour of the year. Catch King The Kid open for Against The Current on the Sink or Swim tour kicking off in Hamden, CT on May 17, 2014 at The Space.

Hailing from Florida, Washington, and Peru, King The Kid bring a melting pot of culture and sound to their music. The trio, comprised of Ricky Ficarelli, David Michael Frank, and Jose Mostajo define their style into a culmination of Rock, Pop, Funk, Soul, and Disco.

It was in 2012 that the trio were introduced to one another and King The Kid was formed. The band name is about empowering yourself, and represents that anyone can work really hard to make your dreams come a reality. With a positive mindset, King The Kid aim to inspire fans to work hard for their goals and to never give up. Ficarelli further expands by stating, “The most powerful aspect of being a musician is the ability to connect with people. Music has such a therapeutic quality and can evoke any emotion.”

In December 2012, King The Kid set out to release their self-produced debut album, Start Something, featuring singles “We Are The Ones,”  “Marionette,” and “Tale of a Secret Admirer.” Immediately following the release, King The Kid embarked on their first full US tour selling out all 35 dates earning them the winner of Hot Topic Battle of The Bands over 500 acts. With little time to spare, King The Kid wrapped up 2012 with a bang and began preparing for a year full of new adventures.

2013, was a year for King The Kid. To kick things off, the triad released a series of cover tracks on YouTube with songs such as “Now” by Paramore, “Brave” by Action Item, “Somewhere in Neverland” by All Time Low, and “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis earning them a more broader fanbase. As the buzz began to build, King The Kid were offered the opportunity of a lifetime to open for Pop Singer/Songwriter from Poughkeepsie, Alex Goot on a full US and Canadian tour. To further promote the tour, King the Kid enlisted in friends, Alex Goot, Sam Tsui, Kurt Schneider, and Against The Current for a unique rock twist to the highly popular “22” by Taylor Swift. But it wasn’t until the band released “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus that their name would be put in the spotlight, earning over 3.7 million views to date. Billboard.com even claimed their parody one of the top 10 Hilarious Clips Even Billy Rae Would Love. Idolator stated, “The band actually does a really good job transforming Miley’s power ballad into a perky pop/rock song.”
