Jack Manley Save Your Own
“Save Your Own” is the artist’s reminder that sometimes we need to save ourselves before we attempt to save others. The airline attendants have always told us, “Put your oxygen mask on first before you help others” and this song is a testament to exactly that.

Getting to know indie rock artist Jack Manley and his music is a reminder of how precious and fragile life is, and how beautiful the art is which comes from the struggle to exist. His story of spiraling into a life of addiction and back is the centerpiece of his art, as the songs he is releasing were all written in a hospital ward, not rehab. Metaphorically plunging into a dark space, he has emerged as an inspiration through his sheer determination, music, and the healing power of medicine, shaping his new solo career into something truly inspirational.

“Save Your Own” is a reflection of my relationships and destructive tendencies, ever- wondering why I hurt the people I love the most. It’s an honest appraisal and a lovesick plea. Trying to find reason in the unreasonable state of being which is active addiction.” – Jack Manley

In recording “Save Your Own”, Jack opted for an unconventional approach by recording his guitar and vocals simultaneously in one live take, aiming to capture the raw emotion behind the song. Josh Eppard of the band Coheed and Cambria, is on drums, Billy Pearson is on guitar, and Addy Idol is on bass. Producer Jeff Berener delivers an inspired and melodic/noisy guitar solo towards the song’s end, elevating it to another level entirely.

Josh Eppard admits taking some responsibility for the artist’s spiraling drug use but shares his own recovery story as well in the documentary film in development about his addiction. Check out the trailer here. Jack Manley plays a big role in the documentary. Eppard used to be a drug user with Jack and now he feels responsible for Jack’s healing rather than hurting and he refuses to let him down. At the end of the trailer, he says, “Is Jack going to make it? Well, I won’t let him fail.

“Smack Water” is the track that sets the stage for his EP, a song about the near-death experiences of two overdoses. An audience favorite trending on Spotify Radio since release day.

Track two: “Tightrope Life”

“Tightrope Life” is about “finally admitting I’m in too deep and can’t stop.” Manley admits, “It’s a recognition of the toll it has taken on my partner”  The single art features text that describes Naloxone–the drug that ultimately saved Manley’s life.

Jack Manley currently plays regular shows for audiences in the Woodstock, NY area. With plans to venture back into the studio for a full-length album and dreams of touring again, Jack’s journey serves as a testament to the enduring power of music and the unwavering spirit of resilience.
