REVIEW: Arms of Empire Debut Album “Energy”

Much thanks to Celina Rae for this exclusive review!

The Progressive/Metal band Arms Of Empire just released their debut album on March 29, 2014. The album is titled Energy, and suitably so! Right off the bat, you’re carried away with the cleansing sound of rain fall and taken for a ride once the guitars begin to flood in. Clouds, is the first track that perfectly sets tone for the album, with aggressive guitars that build up to a thunderous ending and drift into the smooth melodic rhythms of the next, The River. Each track showcases the bands talents even better than the last.a2984116299_2

The aspect of this album that hits the nail on the head, for me, is the lyricism that is involved. Energy, is an encouraging album with lyrics that reflect the stages of life that everyone should experience to reach their highest ceilings. Inspirational to say the least, but combined with their lush-forest theme of cleansing rainfall, each song resonates deeper as vocals collide with thunder.

From lyrics, to the album title, to album art; Arms Of Empire skillfully capture the magnificent power of nature and equate it with self-empowerment. My personal favorite song, that I would call, the cherry on-top of an intricately crafted sundae, would be Patience.

“Are you alive or are you among the dead ones walking? Along a path, they’ll soon forget, fortunes do not come easy. They are found by ones who aspire and hold true…
Refocus your mind, gain control and access your thoughts to no surprise the door will open, the door to the other side. Retain control, while the walls you built collapse around you… may you find patience.”

The insightful truth of this verse knocks me right off my feet and gives a whole new meaning to the title Energy. Though this is the first debut album by Arms Of Empire, it’s plain to hear that this band has been fine-tuning their sound to present fans.
