New York, NY | July 31, 2014 – New York City’s rising talent, Shayna Leigh, is getting set to release her second EP, ‘Hey Shayna Leigh,’ this coming fall. Today the pop singer-songwriter has revealed the full video for the project’s first single, “Drive (Back to Where You Lived),” exclusively on Artist Direct. The song was co-written with songwriter Peter Zizzo (Celine Dion, Vanessa Carlton, Elizabeth Gillies) and produced by 2x Grammy-winning producer Michael Mangini (Run DMC, Joss Stone, The Corrs). “Even when, or especially when, things get difficult,” says Shayna of the meaning behind the single. “And you feel like you’re not making any progress, you have to keep your foot on the gas… Keep moving forward. That’s the only way you’re going to get to where you’re going next.” Check out the music video premiere of “Drive (Back to Where You Lived)” exclusively on Artist Direct, here:http://bit.ly/1koN8B1

“To me, ‘Drive’ has always been about facing life’s obstacles head on — about choosing to move forward in even the most difficult times, so I really wanted the music video to reflect that,” Leigh told us. “This video is the story of how life can be heartbreaking and scary, how it requires us to put ourselves out there pretty much every day, but that through the disappointments, we will inevitably face, we can find the courage to move forward. Through our hardships, big or small, we become a stronger person. We become who we are. I like to think this is something we can all relate to. It is my hope that the video reminds you of something that happened to you growing up… so that you can take a second and see how amazingly you overcame it.”- Shayna Leigh

About Shayna Leigh:

Originally from Orlando, Florida, Shayna Leigh was raised on The Beatles and Carole King, but was also a product of the boy band era. Her mixed influences stayed with her when she moved to New York City for college. Since then, Shayna has taken the musical pulse of the city and translated it’s long history into a sound that resonates throughout her debut EP, The Cold Hard Truth and the Dream. The EP, consisting of three original songs and produced by Mitchell Cohen (Columbia, Arista, and Verve Records) was released in January 2014 as a free download on Noisetrade.com. The lyric video for “Next to Me” has received over 165,000 views on YouTube.

In 2013, Shayna took to the road performing sold-out shows at Rams Head Tavern, The Living Room, Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall, World Café Live, and The Stephen Talkhouse. She has even made the hop across the Atlantic to perform in London. Aquarian Weekly called her tour “a triumph.”

Shayna is currently recording her second EP with noted songwriter Peter Zizzo (Celine Dion, Elizabeth Gillies), Grammy winning producer Michael Mangini, and Steely Dan’s Gary Katz, which is scheduled for release in summer 2014. According to Shayna, the upcoming EP tells the story of facing heartbreak and learning to rise above it. “There is a power that comes from putting yourself out there and standing up for who you are, scary as it is. To me, these songs are all in some way about being brave enough to consistently fight for your dreams.”

Shayna’s career has been marked by a steadfast determination to get her music out there, hopeful she can make an impact. “We all have a story to share and mine is woven in my music. I was taught that we are here not only to take care of ourselves, but to make other people’s lives better. That doesn’t mean forget your own dreams. It means be kind, be funny, smile. Make a positive impact. The world is changed in small positive gestures.  I do believe that.”
