Tour Playlist with Gatherers

Following the release of their new album, We Are Alive Beyond Repair, New Jersey band Gatherers has been out on the road supporting Bent Knee. The guys were kind enough to take some time to share their favorite tunes to spin while on tour. Take a listen below, and be sure to pick up their new album here!

Rich (vocals):

EL VY – “Need A Friend” (Wye Oak Remix)

I know I’m late to the party, but I’ve recently developed a love affair with Matt Berninger’s (The National) lyrics. He’s a brilliant and totally outside-the-box writer. Also, the Wye Oak remix of this song just might be better than the original.

Little Dragon – “Sweet”

Because every top melody Yukimi Nagano sings is genius. Also, as someone who has social anxiety about dancing this song gives me the confidence to embarrass myself.

Interpol – “The Rover”

This band has always inspired & challenged me to think about our band with smarter conventions. I’m predicting that ‘Marauder’ will be one of the best albums to drop in 2018.

Matt (bass):

Drug Church – “But Does It Work”

It’s one of those catchy songs that you find yourself looking forward to coming up on shuffle and when it does you instinct fully turn the volume up. It’s a simple and catchy song that makes you bob your head even if you’ve heard it a hundred times.

Radiohead – “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi”

This is one song that can play 50 times in a row and I wouldn’t mind. It’s easy to get lost in and every time you listen to it you hear something new you didn’t realize was there.

These Arms Are Snakes – “Your Pearly Whites”

I instantly tune in when I hear the opening guitar notes of this song. This is a catchy, to the point, post hardcore track that only gets better with age.

Adam (drums):

Deftones – “Entombed”

I got into Deftones super late, and hearing this song – especially the insanely beautiful but haunting melodic chorus drops – I was blown away and had to revisit their whole catalogue and now they’re easily one of my favorite bands.

Death Cab For Cutie – “What Sarah Said”

No matter how many times I hear this song, it hits me as hard as it did heading it for the first time. Timeless song and record that literally leaves you emotionally drained.

Bent Knee – “Boxes”

Absolutely beautiful song, I had the pleasure of filling in on drums for them on a tour and every time we played this song it’s like everyone was in a deep emotional trance including myself, not many bands are capable of keeping you engaged for 6 minutes but they manage it effortlessly.

Rob (guitar):

Colour Revolt – “Mattresses Underwater”

This song is the soundtrack to the apocalypse. I love how moody & restrained it is…. until the end when a barrage of guitars & feedback swallows everything.

Mandancing – “Passing Out”

One of the best NJ bands right now. Stephen Kelly’s voice is heavenly. I find myself tossing this one on repeat at least 3 times in a row each time I listen.

From Indian Lakes – “Blank Tapes”

I love the production on this song. Everything’s so warm and soothing. Between the guitar work and the vocal melody, I always find this song lodged in my brain.

Anthony (guitar):

This Day Forward – “White Picket Defense System”

This was my gateway band into hardcore. A band way ahead of their time.

The Casket Lottery – “In the Branches”

One of the rare cases a band can return after being away for a bunch of years and put out a quality record that still holds up.

Bent Knee – “Hands Up”

Best band. Best song.
