Q & A With Night Argent

I recently caught up with NIGHT ARGENT, a up-and-coming electrifying anthemic rock band that combines the infectious melodies of a Top-40 Pop act with the high-energy live performance of a well-traveled rock powerhouse. They recently won the grand prize at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands and will be playing select dates on the Vans Warped Tour this summer. With an impressive list of accomplishments over the last year, this is definitely a band that you want to keep your eye on!

You won Grand Prize at the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands in LA this past January – congrats! How was the experience? By the finals round, did you expect to win?

Thank you, it was such an incredible experience. It was our first time playing in Hollywood, and to play an established venue like the Fonda with The Devil Wears Prada was more than we could have hoped for. We went into the competition knowing we were capable of winning, we’re definitely confident in our ability to put on a killer show, but we were up against some very talented bands, so we just focused on enjoying the moment.

You’ve already accomplished a lot in 2015 — and announced dates for Warped Tour this summer (listed below)! What are some additional band goals for this year?

We are definitely excited to play Warped Tour and reach a whole new group of fans. We love going new places and meeting new people. We’ll also be releasing our debut EP and recording some more music videos. Later on this year we’ll be joining the legendary John Feldmann in the studio to write and record a three song EP for our second release.

Speaking of touring – basic and instruments aside, what are 5 things that you need to take with you on the road?

Basketball/Football, plenty of movies, snacks (both healthy and otherwise), our LTE hotspot for the times without Wifi, and swim trunks in case we’re ever near a pool, lake or the ocean.

Your music video for “Nothing More Beautiful” has been gaining a lot of attention – it’s a very powerful song musically, as well as the accompanying video. How did the video concept develop?

We wanted to create a music video that was visually compelling and that matched the intensity and vibe of the song. Our goal was to leave the meaning open for interpretation, we know what the song and video mean to us, but we were really excited to see what our fans were able to draw from it.

Best advice for upcoming bands and musicians who are trying to make a name for themselves?

Don’t worry about creating music that you think will sell, or music you think people want to hear. Create music you’re passionate about, and make sure it comes from a place of sincerity. If you make an honest connection with the audience, people will see that and they’ll be drawn to you. Also, think about how you want to portray your music as a whole. Once you have a vision of the big picture, then you can start to focus on the details.
