Weatherbox debut track, announce album release date and tour!

Weatherbox will release the new album Flies In All Directions on May 13th via Triple Crown Records / Favorite Gentlemen. A hint at what is to come from the San Diego outfit’s  third full-length and first new album in half a decade can be heard in “Bring Us The Head Of Weatherbox”, the first track to be released from the album. This spring and summer Weatherbox will tour North America, with a string of west coast dates already on the books and more soon to be announced.

“The record’s first single, “Bring Us The Head of Weatherbox,” is as great an example of the new record’s direction as any. The song’s introduced with some lightly distorted vocals that lead into falsetto “ooh oohs,” Isaac Brock-worthy guitar bends, and a chorus of “Wake up!” which is repeated and repeated but never really sung the same way twice.” – Brooklyn Vegan

Mixed by Ben Moore (Hot Snakes, Rocket From the Crypt), Flies In All Directions is a look inside the mind of Brian Warren – the creative force behind Weatherbox. The album catalogs the years that lead up to and have followed the band’s first two albums, revealing sordid history comprised of strained friendships, setbacks, and drug induced psychosis. Many of his demons traverse the landscape on, Flies In All Directions, an eclectic, poignant and emotional triumph that continues an evolution from band’s visceral American Art to the mercurial sophomore effort The Cosmic Drama, the bands last LP, released in 2009.

The unconventional timeline for Weatherbox’s output seems right for a band The Onion AV Club praised for “never following trends or giving a shit about what’s supposed to be cool.” as much as they lauded the band for “crumpling post-hardcore into classic yet angular songwriting.” The songs on Flies In All Directions draw lyrics and sheet notes from a time period spanning many years, but the bulk of the material was written recently. In spite of Weatherbox’s twisted path (or perhaps because of it), Flies In All Directiosn ultimately succeeds in showcasing Warren’s eclectic songwriting and poetic lyricism.
